Uttara Kannada Deputy Commissioner has directed officials to take steps to introduce water adventure sports at six beaches and a lake in the district, with the aim of promoting tourism and creating new recreational opportunities for visitors.
The initiative is expected to add more attractions to Uttara Kannada’s coastal and inland tourism destinations. Adventure activities such as water-based recreational sports could attract tourists seeking unique experiences while also providing opportunities for local businesses and youth involved in the tourism sector.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed the concerned departments to identify suitable locations, assess safety requirements and ensure that necessary infrastructure and facilities are developed before launching the activities. Safety standards, trained personnel and proper supervision will be important to ensure a secure experience for tourists.
With its long coastline, scenic beaches, rivers and lakes, Uttara Kannada has significant potential for adventure tourism. The proposed water sports initiative could strengthen the district’s tourism economy while encouraging visitors to explore destinations beyond conventional sightseeing spots.
